Quidditch Preparation

Hey everyone. I made the Quidditch team! I think we should have a good first round of matches. Gryffindors need to do well. We are suffering a bit on House Points and I hope we do our best with the match. My finger is all better although a bit funky looking under the nail but I am back to knitting.

I am a little sad I did not sign up for the dueling club but as a first year I did not want to "bite off more than I can chew"--such a funny muggle expression! Anyway, good luck to those participating. I will be cheering you all on. I am doing great on my kit acquisitions and planning. It is all I can do not to blab on and on about it.

I am participating in the Loopy Ewe Nerd Herd Book Club and will be reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It looks very exciting. I loved Bram Stoker's Dracula and Shelley's Frankenstein. I like a little creepy Gothic reading and I did major in history so I am looking forward to this. I also want to try the Twilight series I have been hearing so much about. Some of us at Hogwarts think Vampires are a little showy but I think they are kind of cool. I really need to take a gander at the Order of the Phoenix as it has been some time since I read it.

I am enjoying Potions this week and also Transfigurations. I am a little scared in Defense Against the Dark Arts. I find our professor intimidating. We will have a Saturday in Hogsmeade soon. Hope I can go if it doesn't interfere with Quidditch practice. I am off for a swim in the lake--Heard there are mermaids there so will take a housemate to be safe!

I was in touch with Electra last week and also Ceciley. Both supercool witches. I am learning more about them and look forward to our contact. I will email again this week and I follow their blogs along with many others. Lots of good writers out there. See you soon.
